The free newsletter making HR less lonely

The best HR advice comes from people who’ve been in the trenches.

That’s what this newsletter delivers.

I Hate it Here is your insider’s guide to surviving and thriving in HR, from someone who’s been there. It’s not about theory or buzzwords — it’s about practical, real-world advice for navigating everything from tricky managers to messy policies.

Every newsletter is written by Hebba Youssef — a Chief People Officer who’s seen it all and is here to share what actually works (and what doesn’t). We’re talking real talk, real strategies, and real support — all with a side of humor to keep you sane.

Because HR shouldn’t feel like a thankless job. And you shouldn’t feel alone in it.

Hey,

For years — I skipped breakfast.

Not intentionally.

Just — rushed mornings. Office pressure. No time.

I thought — less eating = more weight loss.

I was completely wrong.

And the scale proved it every single week.

🍳 What Skipping Breakfast Actually Does To Your Body

When you skip breakfast —

Your body does not think "great — burning fat now."

Your body thinks — "emergency — starvation mode."

Here is what happens inside —

Hour 1-3 after waking — Blood sugar drops. Cortisol spikes. Body starts breaking down muscle for energy — not fat.

By lunchtime — Hunger hormones — ghrelin — are at peak levels. You eat 40% more at lunch than you normally would.

By evening — Energy crash. Cravings spike. You reach for anything quick — biscuits, namkeen, chai.

Net result — You ate less in the morning — but 60% more through the rest of the day.

Skipping breakfast does not create a calorie deficit. It creates a calorie disaster later.

📊 What I Changed — And What Happened

I started eating a simple breakfast within 45 minutes of waking —

  • 2 boiled eggs or paneer — protein

  • One fruit — natural sugar

  • One glass water — hydration

Total time — 10 minutes.

Within 2 weeks —

  • Lunch cravings reduced significantly

  • Evening snacking almost stopped

  • Energy stayed consistent through the day

  • Weight loss actually accelerated

I ate more in the morning — and lost more weight.

This Week's Action

Tomorrow morning — before office — eat something within 45 minutes of waking.

Not a full meal. Just something with protein.

Eggs. Curd. Paneer. Peanut butter on roti.

5-10 minutes. That is all.

Reply and tell me — what does your current breakfast look like? 💪

See you Wednesday! 🙏
