From 10,000 Steps To 10KM — My Ayuthon Story
This past Sunday, I stood at the starting line of Ayuthon 2026 — one of Ahmedabad's biggest running events — with bib number 1752 pinned to my chest.
10KM ahead of me.
Was I nervous? No.
I was confident.
Not because running is easy for me. But because 200+ days of walking had quietly built something inside me that I did not even realise — a foundation of discipline, consistency and physical strength.
That foundation showed up on Sunday morning.
The Numbers From That Morning
Here is what my body did during those 10KM —
Distance covered — 10.00 KM tracked
Total time — 1 hour 11 minutes
Calories burned — 631 kcal
Average heart rate — 156 BPM
Zone 4 Intense zone — 45% of total time
VO2 Max — 45 ml/kg/min (Above Average)
631 calories. In one morning. Before most people had even finished their chai.

💡 The Real Lesson From This Race
Most people think running and walking are completely different things.
They are not.
Walking is the foundation. Running is the result.
When I started my journey 200+ days ago — I could not imagine running 10KM. I was simply trying to walk 10,000 steps without stopping.
But here is what consistent walking quietly did for me —
It strengthened my heart. My resting heart rate dropped significantly over months.
It built my lungs. My VO2 Max improved — meaning my body became more efficient at using oxygen.
It trained my mind. Every single day of showing up — even when I did not want to — built a mental muscle that no gym can give you.
So when race day came — my body was ready. Because my habits had already done the work.
